Briefings, Mentoring and Rescue Services

Communications managers, marketing, web and even HR managers are often expected to be the fount of all knowledge when it comes to anything ‘social media’. For SMEs, being on top of social media is often down to the business owner or Managing Director.

And the truth is, with the speed of technological change, the media hype and the pressure from agencies keen to own the social media space, experienced, senior level executives often feel out of the loop or in danger of being left behind. Social media has been hi-jacked as a marketing tool, but that is a very limited (and limiting) view. It’s time to step back and look at the bigger picture.

Social Media Mentoring

I offer confidential, one-to-one mentoring as a risk-free way of boosting your knowledge. In just a few sessions you will feel much more confident about this crazy, changing media landscape, and more empowered to make the right decisions for your business communications.

Mentoring can take place either face to face, (on site or away from your workplace and colleagues) or by phone. Mentoring is tailored to your particular level of knowledge and professional needs – it can be project-specific or very broad in scope. As your mentor, I am available (by phone, email, Twitter or whatever suits you) when you need an impartial expert opinion, a quick answer or even just reassurance on something you’re not confident about.

Mentoring services can be billed to your organisation, or you may choose to make it a personal investment in your future. Either way, you will reap the benefits, and so will your company and co-workers. Packages start from £250 plus VAT for three sessions.

Social Media Briefings

A social media briefing will help you see the bigger picture, understand what social media is and what it isn’t, and how it can work more effectively for your organisation. Briefings can be tailored to your industry sector or to fill specific knowledge gaps.

I speak at conferences, contribute to CPD days and work with teams. As a result, attendees feel more secure in their knowledge, more empowered to brief agencies, delegate responsibilities, allocate (or pitch for) communications budgets and facilitate the changes necessary in order for their organisation to become more social.

Social Media Rescue

Is your business or organisation actively using social media but not really sure about it? You may be wondering if your investment in Facebook was worth it, or maybe you’ve done the sums and decided social sites aren’t delivering the sales you expected. Perhaps you don’t yet have a social networking workplace policy. Perhaps the person running your Twitter account left and no-one’s running it.

I can assess your company’s social media activities in the context of its goals, resources and culture. As an outsider without prejudice, I can pinpoint the issues and suggest what priorities and actions are necessary to achieve the organisation’s goals and make the most effective use of social media. This invariably requires a refocusing away from tools and technology and back to the people who use them.

Please call me on 07888 693525 if you would like to discuss social media mentoring, briefings or rescue services.
